Unplug for Two Hours
Today’s challenge may require some effort from some of us going through the self-love challenge.
In 2006 I had the opportunity to visit my sister when she was living in Amazonas. We stayed three days in a lodge in the Amazon jungle with no Wi-Fi, no cell phone connection, no TV or contact to the outside world. It took a little while to adjust but it turned out to be an incredible opportunity to be fully present and to enjoy the majestic and beautiful rain forest. Granted that it was before social media, but I think we both could have handled a few days without it. I had never seen so many shades of green in my life.
The self-love challenge today is to unplug for a couple of hours. If two hours are too much for you, try unplugging for at least half hour – no texting, no checking emails, and no social media. What could you do instead? Anything you like to do, spend time with family and friends, rest, go for a walk (leave the phone at home or at least don’t check emails or social media while outside), read a book, meditate, spend time in nature, or simply breathe. If you post a comment and don’t hear from me for a while, it’s because I’m unplugged to actually get some focused time and get some work done. I will respond when I’m back online. Let us know how unplugging feels like to you, by leaving a comment here or on Facebook.

I am not officially participating in this event (I am currently doing 3 other programs and will join Ophra and Deepak tomorrow for their 21 days of meditation) but I will unplug today for a couple of hours; I live about 12 minutes drive from the Botanical Garden, and walking through its various tree lined paths gets me away from all of the sights and sounds of the streets; I just hear the birds.. cell phone off.

Hi Nestor,
The Botanical Garden is beautiful! And signed up for Oprah and Deepak's meditation program too, but only listened to one so far.
