Making Decisions with the Highest Good of All at Heart

When coaching someone on a meditation exercise, to help her decide what to do and what actions to take that would impact her business in a big way, I encouraged her to focus on choosing a solution that would serve the highest good of all involved. She questioned my advice, which at first was surprising, but I quickly thought about it and knew what she meant. Why would she even consider the highest good of someone else who could potentially hurt her business? Or what if the highest good for others meant that she didn’t get what she wanted?

The reality is that the highest good of all doesn’t mean that everyone gets what they want or what they think they want. The highest good means that everyone gets what they need at this point in time for their soul growth, for their lessons, for their conscious awareness. It’s not about making someone else happy, or sacrificing ourselves, and making ourselves sad because the other person got what they wanted and we didn’t. It’s about surrendering to it all. It’s about the understanding that the highest good is more than just what the ego wants right now, what it feels like it “deserves”, or feels it’s its right. It’s so much more. It’s about understanding that there is a deeper meaning to our actions and decisions.

When we set the intention that the highest good of all be achieved, it means that the others who may be impacted by our decisions, are receiving exactly what their souls need at that particular moment, even if it’s not exactly what their ego thinks it wants. Maybe when you set the intention that your decision will serve the highest good of all involved, it means that the others involved need to learn a specific lesson by you setting a boundary, by you expressing your needs, by you standing your ground. This way you do not need to fear what could happen if you spoke up, as you have the deep knowing that it serves a higher purpose. The person I was coaching was concerned that by considering the highest good of all, she would have to give up her needs. How about if everyone’s needs, at least in a soul level, could be met, if the intention is to create a win-win situation for the highest good of all?
